Mumbai: K Harad, a 60-year-old grandmother from a remote Adivasi hamlet in Shahapur, Thane district, did not seem to notice the confluence of technology and tradition—an artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled portable X-ray machine linked to a laptop in a corner of a Navratri pandal for the Devi.
She sacrificed her afternoon routine to walk a short distance for the local govt’s health camp as she experienced pain in her chest.
After her blood pressure and sugar levels were checked, she moved to the ‘AI corner’ where her chest scan was captured and seamlessly uploaded to the laptop. Within a few minutes, the screen displayed a concise note: “Abnormal but not TB presumptive,” with an additional note indicating “pneumonia” and “nodules”.
